Coloratura soprano Mithuna Sivaraman is quickly getting noticed for the “clarity of her embellishments” (Voce di Meche). Since moving to New York in May 2018, she has made role debuts as Casilda in Gilbert & Sullivan’s The Gondoliers (Ridgewood G&S Opera Company), Clizia in Handel’s Teseo (Cantanti Project), and Drusilla in Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea (New York Lyric Opera Theater); and covered the role of Savitri in New Camerata Opera’s double bill of Venus and Adonis/Savitri. She has also performed with companies in California and Washington D.C., with roles including Belinda (Dido and Aeneas) and Gretel (Hansel and Gretel). She is a 2019 alumna of IVAI, and will be a Studio Artist with Teatro Nuovo in June 2020.
In her non-singing life, Mithuna is part of the international tax practice at Ernst & Young LLP. She is a California-licensed attorney, and earned her juris doctor from Emory Law in 2013.
